Ji Terrace by the SEA has launched an amazing Sunday brunch in Canggu. Serving its popular Japanese fusion menu, alongside those stunning ocean views, it’s a weekend experience you just shouldn’t miss.
Along the idyllic Batu Bolong beach, Ji Terrace stands with an epic view from two-storeys up. It’s a strategic spot to sit and watch the surfers tackle the waves rolling in. Whilst usually a popular dinner and sunset destination, Ji Terrace has decided that its view and the warm sunshine are wasted if not enjoyed during the day and hence they have launched a Sunday brunch in Canggu of epic proportions.
Set over three floors, the jewel in Ji’s crown is our rooftop terrace that’s dishing up modern interpretations of Asian and global classics alongside tropical beats and 180 degrees of undisturbed vistas over. You’ll find this breezy and beautiful spot by climbing to the second and third floors of Ji Restaurant. You’ll pass through the mystically decorated ground floor with its deep red hues and black and white portraits, and up the ancient stone stairway where you’ll get your first glimpse of the glittering ocean out yonder.
Colourful, ancient Indonesian and Asian-style tiles light up this bright and cosy space, beautifully set beside low-rise tables dotted by squishy cushions to capture the bohemian spirit of Canggu. Continue your ascent up the final set of stairs and this is where you’ll find the pièce de résistance of Ji Terrace by the Sea.
This top floor terrace is a one-stop-foodie-shop from lunchtime ‘til late, with Asian-fusion bites, breezy bohemian vibes and of course, those epic ocean vistas. In fact, it’s one of the highest vantage points along the Canggu coastline, so if you’re looking for sea views for as far as the eye can see; this is where you’ll find them.
The menu is the work of renowned chef Colin Buchan [previously from Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants in London, Jason Atherton’s Pollen in Singapore, and the personal chef to David and Victoria Beckham], and together with Ji’s team of Japanese and Asian-trained chefs.
The food is a divine fusion of ancient and contemporary Asian cuisines [from Japan and India to Indonesia, Thailand and beyond]. Much like the food, the cocktails are also Asian inspired with home-infused ingredients, like the smokin’ Coco Sexo [inspired by the volcanoes of Indonesia] and – our favourite – the Gin & Tea with Javanese tea and herb-infused gin – the perfect accompaniment to any candy-coloured Canggu sunset.
Still serving its unique Japanese fusion menu, this Sunday brunch is not your usual buffet spread. No, this is an all-you-can-eat a la carte menu comprised of a mixture of sushi, sashimi, meat dishes, rice dishes, fresh salads and more – all made fresh when you order them!
Think the best Yakitori with perfectly grilled chicken legs and leek on charcoal with delicate crispiness from the chicken skin, Sushi Rolls with butterfish, crab salad, avocado with crunchy tempura flakes, Wagyu Steak and Egg, Ahi Tuna and Thai Basil, Beef Tataki with garlic crisps, Breakfast Udon and Prawn Tempura, Miso and Cappuccino (red wine sorbet with miso cappuccino sabayon, Banana Flambé served with ginger ice cream), and many more to please even the most finicky gourmand.
From 11AM – 3PM you can eat to your heart’s content – order a bit of everything, then maybe add on a few more plates of what you liked the most. The brunch package starts at IDR 390,000++ per person (for up to 10 dishes) or IDR 490,000++ for the All-You-Can-Eat scheme, including endless Japanese contemporary cuisine from meaty to vegetarian dishes. Add on IDR 440,000++ per person for free flow selected cocktails and wines.
