Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali Welcomes New Executive Chef

Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali is pleased to announce the appointment of Agus Sugiyanto as the resort’s Executive Chef. Agus Sugiyanto is an Indonesian native who went to study in Bandung Tourism Institute, where he was able to develop his skill, style and flair; it is followed by many achievements during his study or in the professional field. One of the best achievements was when he worked with the Michelin Star Chefs in Dubai as he earned a series of skills and knowledge.

As Chef Agus himself admits, he brings many years of culinary expertise gained from various international hotels and resorts worldwide. It tells how much he likes travelling and learning new culinary cultural as each region has a different type, taste and behaviour.

Chef Agus first built his career in 1996 through assignment at the international hotel, which located in Seoul, South Korea; he worked for Park Hyatt hotel. After finished his short tenure in South Korea, he decided to move to Saudi Arabia, where he continued his culinary journey in the Intercontinental Hotel Group. Then his career path continued back to Indonesia and he perfected his skills in Marriot group for a few years. As a brilliant professional, Chef Agus never stopped to gain another skill and experience, in 2006 he continued his journey back to Dubai and joined with Jumeirah Hotel and moved to another prestigious hotel in Dubai. Until then he finally back to the Bali, Indonesia, and ended up his journey in Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali.

As the Executive Chef at Grand Mirage Resort, Chef Agus oversees the resort’s 8 restaurants and 2 bars, as well as in-room dining and banquet operations; starting from romantic dinner, wedding and corporate functions. Chef Agus is believed that every dish should bring joy to the consumers, “It is a great pleasure when you can see the joy and smile from your customer right after they taste the dish. And I believe to share this joy, we should give the best attention to its quality; you must use fresh ingredients for natural flavour and always and gives the best attention to its presentation”.

By having a strong passion in culinary, Chef Agus Sugiyanto is focusing on the enjoyment of different flavours and best presentation. By his appearance at the resort, Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali believes that it will give different nuance and ambience to each of our restaurants.
