Japanese Cosplay enthusiasts or those who are interested in Japanese cultures in general, once again, can enjoy a little of Japan during the event of Bali Sakura Matsuri 2019 this weekend, 2-3 February 2019. Presenting the central theme of “Japanese Fashion and Pop Culture” this event, for the first time, is going to host the stage for Indonesia Cosplay Grand Prix (IGCP) competition, as one of its main highlighted agendas.
Held in the main atrium of Park 23 Entertainment Center at Jalan Kediri, Tuban-Kuta, Bali Sakura Matsuri is designed to strengthen the relationship between Japan and Indonesia through the introduction and celebration of its cultures and diversities. During the two-day event, guests are able to sample typical Japanese foods from participants’ booths, purchase cute souvenirs, join some activities like Japanese calligraphy art, Japanese tea rituals, and the Yukata photo booth.
On the first day, the main event taking the stage will be Sakura Collection Asia Students Awards Grand Prix Final in Indonesia 2018-2019, where 10 talented young Indonesian designers will compete to win a trip to Japan. With the main mission to develop the creativity of young students and designers in designing clothes with a Japanese theme, 30 best of total 702 sketches submitted by 234 participants from various schools in Indonesia will be displayed on the stage of Bali Sakura Matsuri 2019.
The second day of the event brings more colourful, and unique personalities to the event as Indonesia Cosplay Grand Prix Bali competition will be held to choose a representative to the next level of competitions to the final World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan. There is also CLASH, an event to introduce Japanese pop and geek culture through various activities such as cosplay competitions, single cosplay parades, karaoke competitions, and many more.
